Two thought experiments that should NEVER be attempted in the real world:

1: Schrodinger's cat:

Description:

Video above: Minute physics explains the Schrodinger's cat experiment. And, if you ever want to learn Physics fast, minute physics is definitely the series to catch.

Verdict:
Ever tried getting a live cat into a box? If you can't remember then check your arms and face, are they covered in deep, vicious, scars?

OK, lets say you manage to get the cat in without loosing an eyeball. If you've got any sense at all you'll want the damn thing to be dead before you open the lid again. If that sounds cruel....wanna guess what happens when you lean over the box and open it?

This is the scariest cat picture I could find on the internet.
Be afraid.

2: Monkeys and typewriters:

Description:
Video above: The wonders of the virtual world: Someone has actually used a computer simulation to try and do this. Matrix monkeys, anyone?

Verdict:
Do monkeys naturally spend a lot of time on type writers? No.

What actually pops into your head when you think about monkeys? Poo throwing? To-the-death fights for dominance of the pack? Monkey sex? Now times that by a million and add a large number of throwable metal objects into the mix.

Can you imagine the clean up operation after the experiment was over? And for what? The worst typed, most poo and monkey blood stained copy of Romeo and Juliet in history?

And it gets worse. Imagine the experimenters heartbreak when, on rereading, it turns out that in the monkey copy of Macbeth he says "Is this a banana I see before me?" and the whole experiment has to be run again.

Who would actually try and perform these experiments?

Only a person with a brain made of yoghurt....

....or a professional scientist.
