Man made lightning. LOTS of it.

A Van De Graaf (VDG) generator creates static electricity. Even a small one will make many thousands of volts of it.

If you have an electrically conducting glove (just some tin foil wrapped around your fingers will do) and a small VDG generator, you can shoot some bolts of lightning from your fingers.

You can even shock other people without getting shocked yourself, which makes you feel like a supervillian, and is hilarious. Especially if you do it to your little brother or sister*. Yes, I know, I need a non-supervillian hobby

But, if you have two huge VDG generators, and two suits of chainmail......

*Little brother or sister: Hang on for the next post on how to build a VDG generator, and get them first.
